Updates on Mom's condo. Does it look like a showcase (model) to you? It does to me at times.  Posted by Hello

Here you can see the overly flowering tree, and the many rock that Tom moved mostly on his own. We scrounged them up from His parents hills, filled two vehicles with them and then plunked them down in our front yard. Much nicer looking than old railroad ties.  Posted by Hello

SICK

Oh, so sick.
What did I do.....? Friday- I was a walking zombie at work, Saturday- I barely moved from my chair and today does not look much better. Although now when I blow my nose there does seem to be stuff coming out.
I caught some horrible head cold. It started out as a soar throat on Wednesday or Thursday. I can't feel my throat anymore for the rest of the problems I am having.
Good thing I went clothes shopping on Wednesday.
Now I have three outfits and don't know which one to wear. oh well.
Sorry to have missed stuff on Saturday.
Must go to work tomorrow. ewww

Reading

Been doing a bit of reading lately.
Tom was messing around online and found out - HURRAY - Jim Butcher put out his next book.
It is in hardcover at the moment. But I don't care.
We have 1-6 in paperback and they were worth it.

I was just informed that the newest Laura Hamilton was a total waste. Much worse than anything else. I think she lost the ability to tell a story, she just wants to tell you who or what the main character is doing at the moment. (Take that how you wish.)

Of course, we turned off the heat because it was 80 on Tuesday. Now it is 50 and we are all freezing at work. I swear we can not win.

I have pictures to post. We finally went rock hunting at Tom's Parents house. He wasn't kidding about the many rocks just sitting there waiting for you to walk by and get them. We re-did the whole front of the house - where the plantings are - with rocks. I know - get the pictures up.

May, dang it's May

It's May 11th and do you have an outfit for whatever upcoming wedding you are expected to be at.
I certainly don't, and I guess I have to do something about that. I don't even know where I want to start looking? The dress shops that I like are mostly gone, and I don't keep up on any fashions at all. What's right for a 34 year old married teacher to be wearing to a wedding. I will not wear a suit. I don't wear them for work, why in the world would I want to wear one to a wedding.
Work - Yep, still making it there everyday. The last 2 weeks have been very strange. We have an Ed Performance test that all the students must take. Basically we decided it was easier to pull them all from English, because They are always in at least one English class. So, that means I have had 4 days so far that have been messed up by testing. The first two we did all but 1 class. Now, we are getting all the stragglers from all of my classes and the one we missed the first time around.
I am trying to get the students ready to read Julius Cesear - Shakespeare. I started reading it myself. The first act is sort of interesting. Wow, I always forget the millions of allusions that Shakespeare uses. I keep telling the students that they have to know Shakespeare to understand the allusions to everything else they read or watch. Now, I have to dredge up information on all the stuff that Shakespeare alluded to. Oh no. I'm not sure where I will find most of it.

Free time - ok - I don't think I really have free time. BUT - I do have to take reading breaks from the rest of the world. Currently Tom and I are enamored with Lynn Kurland. She writes historical romance novels. Either one or both of the main characters travel from the present to the past or the other way around. In one, they traveled both ways more than once. The stories take place in England and Scotland, two places that I like and would like to see. So, I am enjoying the scenery of it all. I love when the characters drive in the present and talk about the sheep blocking the road all the time. It reminds me of Ireland.

Paul and Michelle just got back from Ireland, they said it was pretty, about 55 and rainy most of the trip. That is why I went in July, it was 65, and mostly sunny the whole trip. But, what are you going to do....

I might start a new blog to write short stories or novels or something. Maybe I can get some of my own poetry done. Let me know if you are interested. Maybe I can add other peoples stuff and we can make it an open blog.

The hour of freedom is up and I have to get back to grading. Ed Performance strikes once again.

What, What?? A Play

Oh my, I am supposed to be putting on a play.
Anyone out there feel the real need to be doing something helpful with their life right about now...
Ok, the kids are pretty good, and they mostly know their lines. I am going to need a bit of help getting the set done. I turned in my "LAST" copy of the gear I need to do a background.
(oh man I sound like the kids.) I guess we would be buying the wood and stuff in the next week or so.

They wanted me to do the play the 26th and 27th of May. I realized that is the dumbest idea possible for me. NO WAY- I need Memorial weekend to actually put the set together. OH MY
oh well.
I'm thinking about changing the name of the blog. I haven't gotten around to doing that yet. I wonder how much trouble I am going to have doing that.

I need to go ponder life.

OK, your turn to decide

WHAT in the world should I call the blog now.
It's not our First year anymore???
I want your suggestions. So, either send them in E-mail or post them as a comment.

I just have to complain.
I don't normally complain on my blog, not like Naarah anyway......
Sprint must be the most messed up phone company I have ever dealt with. My original reason for using them is A. I didn't like SBC or whatever it was then. B. I got miles on my Northwest account. (real reason.)
So, anyway - I have had Sprint long distance for YEARS. As most of you would guess I pay most bills online. It seems that Sprint and Discover have done things to make it impossible for me to long into their sights. (Hated Discover already) (Oh yeah, Northwest dropped them like 2 years ago for the points, hmm should have switched then....)
I called SBC to see what it would cost me to have Long Distance with them, since I rarely use it. (Ie. I love cell phones) Well, you'll never guess what? I don't pay SBC a dime (because I have local) unless I actually make a long distance call.
I changed my Long distance right there and have been waiting 2 weeks for Sprint to call me with my last amount, because they stopped sending paper bills like 2 years ago, when I was still able to sign on and pay bills.
This morning they call.
I GOT THE DUMBEST GUY EVER!!!!! He wasn't even logged into the computer, He wasn't ready to take my information. I guess he was ready for me to hang up on him. I told him, A. Can't get on website to pay. B. I don't get paper bills anymore, so could not pay that way. C. Waiting for you to call, so I cancelled.
Not sure if he was so busy writing it down that he got confused, because then he put me on hold. (Guess he had to move to another computer.)
So, the thing that should have taken 5 minutes to do, took 25. Ok, that doesn't seem long. But I was busy grading papers....... Doing my job. WOW
Well, done with Sprint. HURRAY

Ok, that was my k'vetch for the day.....

ARG - OH MY GOODNESS - he made me burn my lunch. I was so busy waiting on the line with him, I missed the beep of the stove and ran up their to find lunch completely ruined. ARG I hate Sprint........

A TRUE FRIEND

I got this as an email and felt it was worth some space on the blog. Much easier than clogging everyone's email.

A True Friend

Are you tired of all those sissy "friendship" poems that always sound good, but never actually come close to reality?

Well, I am. So here is a series of promises that really speaks to true friendship:

1. When you are sad - I will help you get drunk and plot revenge against the sorry bastard who made you sad.

2. When you are blue - I will try to dislodge whatever is choking you.

3. When you smile - I will know you finally got laid.

4. When you are scared - I will rag on you about it every chance I get

5. When you are worried - I will tell you horrible stories about how much worse it could be and to quit whining.

6. When you are confused - I will use little words.

7. When you are sick - Stay the hell away from me until you are well again. I don't want whatever you have.

8. When you fall - I will point and laugh at your clumsy ass.

Send this to 10 of your closest friends, then get depressed because you can only think of two and one of them isn't speaking to you right now anyway.

Remember: A good friend will help you move. A really good friend will help you move a body. Let me know if I ever need to bring a shovel.

The quiz

WOW, I guess it was and wasn't as easy as I thought. Matt - who I have really only met in person once, got 60, my own brother managed 61 and Narrah did quite well with 83. I have to get Tom to take it. Can't wait to see his score.
Please do put a comment on this page with your score.

Our First Year

Our First Year: "Can I get this stuff to work right today or not? I forgot to mention that yes, that is Aunt Kathy and Murphy in the pic with mom. Seen more of them this year than in the last 4, I think. Ok, pics of mom's condo. Enjoy. "

I forgot to do an outside picture. Well, this was with the snow. Eww, glad that is gone.  Posted by Hello

What, when where why?

IT'S SPRING - HA HA HA HA HA HA HA
Sure it is.
NOT

The weather is confused.

Life in Wixom - I still have a job. How about that. Looks like I get to keep it for next year too.
I have to admit that I have been hiding out a bit. But actually Tom and I have dragged ourselves out of the house several times in the last few weeks.
We drove to Toledo to see "The Friends of the Bob and Tom show". If you live near Toledo or north far enough, you can hear "Bob and Tom" on a hard rock station in the morning. Funny guys.
We went to a movie. Wow, can't even remember what it was.
We managed to go out to eat with Rob and Naarah - but I mentioned that in the other blog.
We had to rebuild one of my computers. It is still acting up, I had to get a new power supply. I have a back up mother board for the moment. Either the one I have will puke, or I will be sending it back. I got the mother board, because the one I had made no boops, or beeps. Made me very nervous.

THE GOOD NEWS...... They have changed Tom's job once again. He is no longer a slave to the machine. They found someone else to do that. Tom is now in charge of all the updating on the machines, because - they would make him do it anyway. At least now they found someone else to babysit the line people. They really can not seem to keep running correctly without someone standing over there shoulder. Sort of like my high school students.
Tom is so very happy. He does not have to work 14 hour days and 7 days a week now.
The paychecks will be smaller, but spending time with him will be worth it. Plus, now I can make he help get some work done. lol

OK, Stuff you might want to know about.

Mom is moved in, she has her furniture and everything out of the storage units. How, I don't know. You can not walk in the basement of the condo.
She is practically done painting the house. I am freaking amazed. She is going to get tendinities again, I know it. At least Aunt Shirley and Kim have been helping with the base painting and Kim's boyfriend has been doing a lot of the manly stuff. How nice.
I finally dragged Tom down and we helped her with a big load of stuff. We filled up both vehicles and moved some stuff around.

I have to take some pictures of her house and post them.
Rob and Naarah are getting married in May.
School doesn't get out until June 23 and I have to be back to work on August 1st. So, if you want to see me. It has to be in July.
Rich, clean the house, we'll be there in July. Not sure if over the 4th or the week after. LOL
Anyone else we have to fit in???

Thank Goodness for Spring Break (that is too early this year), it starts on Friday.
Have a great Easter, if that is your bag.

What its MARCH already???

Someone pinch me, because it still looks like January out there. Well, I certainly hope that the March coming in like a Lion is going to help it go out like a lamb. Easter is very early this year, and I really do not want to be dealing with SNOW during my time off.

3 and 1/2 straight weeks before we get there. Did I mentions having to hang on lately???
Oh yeah, a lot of schools took yesterday off because of the snow... Once again I work in an insane district that is always open.

I spent some time with adults this past weekend, it was amazing. Friday the teaching crew hit 8th hour. We needed some adult talk time. Saturday I helped mom move a bunch of stuff. We got help from Mike, Kimmy and Lynn. That was nice, Lynn brought food. VERY Big help.
Saturday night, ran into Rob and Naarah on the freeway home. Almost literally from their point of view. Ok, so I passed them. Car has a V8 what did you expect.
Naarah rings me up and says, "You drive a bit fast don't you?" By the time I figure out I passed them it was funny. We talked while I drove home and decided, hey adults at dinner. What a concept.
I drag poor tired Tom out the door and we had dinner at El Nibble Nook. It was nice.

Sunday I FIXED the router. It was working, but not up to its potential. Happy to say I managed to fix it myself and did not have to go get a new one. Hmm, need to remember to update firmware more often. LOL

School is school and snow keeps coming. I was greatly wishing for that snowblower yesterday. Paid a kid walking by with a blower $20 to help me find the driveway. I felt it was worth every penny, the snow was REALLY heavy yesterday.

Life is rough, and on we go.

Mom Closed

Hi,
Mom closed on the Condo, so it will be a busy weekend!!! Are you available?? LOL

The floors look great, so bring slippers so as not to mess it up already.

Mom and I spent a lot of my long weekend together, running around, shopping and the normal stuff. We visited Trina at the house and she is already doing a ton of work on the place. Although it was a little difficult finding the driveway for all the snow. LOL

Back to school. ugh OH YEAH - my blog is officially up on the blog catalog thing. So, please go check it out and rate it. I have a link on the side bar now.
Have a great day.

Blogging USA

Hi, been messing around.
Had a post and lost it. What a surprise. Ugh
Anyway - I tried googling to find this blog and basically you have to already know the address to find it. Ugh
So, I listed us in a blog directory. BLOG CATALOG
Go there and look us up and put in a comment, so we hit the front page. The more we are connected to, the more likely we will be found when googling.

What else would I do on a day off. Ummm, play EQ2. Off to do that now.

The world keeps on turning, can I hang on.

Just when you think you could get through a week without something else getting in the way of the lessons - BAM
If you happened to watch the news last night or this morning- the TV stations in Detroit have been trying to camp out in front of our school. Yes, ORA has gotten itself into the news again. This time it is sensational, an adult female coach with a male basketball player.

Due to the legalities involved in the case - yes it is in the courts now - I can not really comment. Just watch the news, you are bound to see some of my students blabbing their hearts out. I'm waiting to hear what happens to the basketball players that were talking. The coaches had told them NOT to talk to the news people. Teenagers, do they ever listen to what you tell them??? NOPE!!!!

I do have some good news. Tom finally shaved. Oh my, you say - what's the big deal. Well, if you look down the page you might notice a close up of Tom's face. He had not shaved since he got the stitches. Well, the stitches have been out a week and he FINALLY shaved. It was getting a little scary. :~)

Happy Valentines day to all. Sorry, no time yesterday to call everyone. Tom and I had a lovely evening at Costco for dinner. Probably the cheapest we have eaten all year. LOL
NO snowblower for Valentines day though. DARN. I got something nice. Tell ya later.

The work front - I was asked if I planned to come back next year. Hmmmm Sure, why not. It would be nice to see what it is like to teach the same thing more than once. Vegas is still so very much in the air. I'm pretty sure that I don't see that happening this year. We are starting to get a bit settled in the house. hmmmmmm
So, it looks like I won't be running around like a chicken with my head cut off this spring, looking for a job. I have one and have basically been invited back - FOR NOW. LOL we are starting the practices for the play tomorrow. OH BOY That could be a disaster.

Count Day - 2nd verse

It is the second count day of the year.
I am not sure if I remember having a second count day last year, but then again, we used computers for attendance so I really didn't have to do anything.

Snow, yes - it started snowing again. Monroe county had some major black ice this morning and there were more than a few accidents around town. Of course, we had school.

Oh well. Same fight different day. You would think they would be smarter about chewing gum. For some strange reason, all the students here are into Blue gum, I don't even know what brand it is, but every time I turn around someone has a piece of gum in their mouth.
Now considering their skin is darker, their teeth are white and the tongue pink, how do they expect me not to notice the BLUE gum in their mouth?????

They always seem amazed that I catch them. I had one do it twice in one hour. I gave him a detention. I ask them if they think I am blind?
I feel it is stupid just to give a detention when I see the gum, especially right after lunch. It is as close to brushing that most of them will get all day. So, I just tell them to spit it out. But when I catch them again, we are talking pure stupidity.

I guess they mentioned in the meeting yesterday that teenagers still have to develop the frontal lobe and so they are willing to try lots of risk behavior, "Yeah, right I'm gonna get caught". I guess that is why they are always so surprised to get caught.
I don't remember being that bad, oh well, different world.

Tom is working horrible hours again. He is getting stressed out. I'm not enjoying this new supervisor job crap. They expect him to do miracles, just like they expect us to get miracles out of high school students.

Well, I guess the snow is ok, it covered all the ugly brown grass up again. Take care of yourself.

Welcome to February

A new month in a new year. Sometimes it amazes me that the days just keep going by.

I guess you can say the school year is officially 1/2 over. I'm hoping that we won't need to stay in school until June 23. I think that is really pushing it over the edge.

I know if the student don't rebel by then, some of the teachers will...

- someone might find this interesting - we have a water main break out in front of the school AGAIN, and we are still here. The students watched someone wind up the wrong way on the street in the median, because they hit the giant ice patch that is right in front of the school.
This morning, as teachers we were hoping they would shut off the water to the school. No such luck.

News from Vegas - well - Mom, Mike and Julie are in Vegas. And the weather has been decent and Mike went to see the Star Trek thing yesterday. Mike will have news for you when he gets home. I forgot to ask if I could tell...... Though I'm sure you can guess something.
I need to call mom today and see how she is doing. I don't think this trip is quite how she planned and I know Mike was thinking of something else. Let's just say - mom still gets up early and Mike never has.......

Oh yeah - COOL NEWS - Naarah and Rob are in the contest for a FREE $50,000 WEDDING at 12 Oaks Mall. They were called on Friday and told they are in the Top 10. They should hear on Wednesday about if they made the top 3. Then Thursday is the interviews with the radio people and then FRIDAY, they would know.
THE WEDDING will be on February 13th after the mall closes. Someone will get married then. Naarah wrote a wonderful ballad. REALLY - a ballad from old English. 100 words exactly.

I wish all the luck to them. I think it would be great. Just means I have to go find a dress this weekend. UGH

Happy February.
