Mom Closed

Hi,
Mom closed on the Condo, so it will be a busy weekend!!! Are you available?? LOL

The floors look great, so bring slippers so as not to mess it up already.

Mom and I spent a lot of my long weekend together, running around, shopping and the normal stuff. We visited Trina at the house and she is already doing a ton of work on the place. Although it was a little difficult finding the driveway for all the snow. LOL

Back to school. ugh OH YEAH - my blog is officially up on the blog catalog thing. So, please go check it out and rate it. I have a link on the side bar now.
Have a great day.

Blogging USA

Hi, been messing around.
Had a post and lost it. What a surprise. Ugh
Anyway - I tried googling to find this blog and basically you have to already know the address to find it. Ugh
So, I listed us in a blog directory. BLOG CATALOG
Go there and look us up and put in a comment, so we hit the front page. The more we are connected to, the more likely we will be found when googling.

What else would I do on a day off. Ummm, play EQ2. Off to do that now.

The world keeps on turning, can I hang on.

Just when you think you could get through a week without something else getting in the way of the lessons - BAM
If you happened to watch the news last night or this morning- the TV stations in Detroit have been trying to camp out in front of our school. Yes, ORA has gotten itself into the news again. This time it is sensational, an adult female coach with a male basketball player.

Due to the legalities involved in the case - yes it is in the courts now - I can not really comment. Just watch the news, you are bound to see some of my students blabbing their hearts out. I'm waiting to hear what happens to the basketball players that were talking. The coaches had told them NOT to talk to the news people. Teenagers, do they ever listen to what you tell them??? NOPE!!!!

I do have some good news. Tom finally shaved. Oh my, you say - what's the big deal. Well, if you look down the page you might notice a close up of Tom's face. He had not shaved since he got the stitches. Well, the stitches have been out a week and he FINALLY shaved. It was getting a little scary. :~)

Happy Valentines day to all. Sorry, no time yesterday to call everyone. Tom and I had a lovely evening at Costco for dinner. Probably the cheapest we have eaten all year. LOL
NO snowblower for Valentines day though. DARN. I got something nice. Tell ya later.

The work front - I was asked if I planned to come back next year. Hmmmm Sure, why not. It would be nice to see what it is like to teach the same thing more than once. Vegas is still so very much in the air. I'm pretty sure that I don't see that happening this year. We are starting to get a bit settled in the house. hmmmmmm
So, it looks like I won't be running around like a chicken with my head cut off this spring, looking for a job. I have one and have basically been invited back - FOR NOW. LOL we are starting the practices for the play tomorrow. OH BOY That could be a disaster.

Count Day - 2nd verse

It is the second count day of the year.
I am not sure if I remember having a second count day last year, but then again, we used computers for attendance so I really didn't have to do anything.

Snow, yes - it started snowing again. Monroe county had some major black ice this morning and there were more than a few accidents around town. Of course, we had school.

Oh well. Same fight different day. You would think they would be smarter about chewing gum. For some strange reason, all the students here are into Blue gum, I don't even know what brand it is, but every time I turn around someone has a piece of gum in their mouth.
Now considering their skin is darker, their teeth are white and the tongue pink, how do they expect me not to notice the BLUE gum in their mouth?????

They always seem amazed that I catch them. I had one do it twice in one hour. I gave him a detention. I ask them if they think I am blind?
I feel it is stupid just to give a detention when I see the gum, especially right after lunch. It is as close to brushing that most of them will get all day. So, I just tell them to spit it out. But when I catch them again, we are talking pure stupidity.

I guess they mentioned in the meeting yesterday that teenagers still have to develop the frontal lobe and so they are willing to try lots of risk behavior, "Yeah, right I'm gonna get caught". I guess that is why they are always so surprised to get caught.
I don't remember being that bad, oh well, different world.

Tom is working horrible hours again. He is getting stressed out. I'm not enjoying this new supervisor job crap. They expect him to do miracles, just like they expect us to get miracles out of high school students.

Well, I guess the snow is ok, it covered all the ugly brown grass up again. Take care of yourself.

Welcome to February

A new month in a new year. Sometimes it amazes me that the days just keep going by.

I guess you can say the school year is officially 1/2 over. I'm hoping that we won't need to stay in school until June 23. I think that is really pushing it over the edge.

I know if the student don't rebel by then, some of the teachers will...

- someone might find this interesting - we have a water main break out in front of the school AGAIN, and we are still here. The students watched someone wind up the wrong way on the street in the median, because they hit the giant ice patch that is right in front of the school.
This morning, as teachers we were hoping they would shut off the water to the school. No such luck.

News from Vegas - well - Mom, Mike and Julie are in Vegas. And the weather has been decent and Mike went to see the Star Trek thing yesterday. Mike will have news for you when he gets home. I forgot to ask if I could tell...... Though I'm sure you can guess something.
I need to call mom today and see how she is doing. I don't think this trip is quite how she planned and I know Mike was thinking of something else. Let's just say - mom still gets up early and Mike never has.......

Oh yeah - COOL NEWS - Naarah and Rob are in the contest for a FREE $50,000 WEDDING at 12 Oaks Mall. They were called on Friday and told they are in the Top 10. They should hear on Wednesday about if they made the top 3. Then Thursday is the interviews with the radio people and then FRIDAY, they would know.
THE WEDDING will be on February 13th after the mall closes. Someone will get married then. Naarah wrote a wonderful ballad. REALLY - a ballad from old English. 100 words exactly.

I wish all the luck to them. I think it would be great. Just means I have to go find a dress this weekend. UGH

Happy February.
